New
Development Near Connector Planned
A 220-acre site off Fork Shoals Road, between the
Southern
Connector and the SCTAC Center may eventually be
filled with housing, office space,
and retail shopping.
According to a statement of intent
issued
to the Greenville County Planning Department, the land owners envision "a mixed-use community
consisting of single-family and multi-family residences, and
retail and office uses." A tentative
site plan submitted with the statement specified up to 425 single-family residences on 151
acres of the property along with 416,000 square-feet of office and
retail, as well as 294 multi-family units, on 65 acres; and
4 acres of park/open space.
Simpsonville
Earns High Marks
The respected global market rating agency, Fitch Ratings,
has given the City of Simpsonville, South Carolina's
$800,000 general obligation (GO) bonds an "A+". The bonds
are scheduled to sell through a private placement beginning
in April 2007. Bond proceeds will be used to finance road
paving throughout the city. Additionally, Fitch affirms the
'A+' rating on the county's approximately $1.8 million
outstanding GO bonds.
Simpsonville, located in Greenville County, is a small
community with an estimated population of 17,000. Benefiting
from its close proximity to the Southern Connector,
a beltway south of the City of Greenville, Simpsonville's
developing economy has experienced growth, as evidenced by
an influx of new retailers. The recent completion of
Heritage Park has attracted a number of events and has
developed into a driver for the local economy. The 'A+'
rating reflects Simpsonville's strong reserve levels and
conservative management, low debt service burden on
tax-supported operations, and healthy tax base growth.
