SOUTHERN CONNECTOR TEAM RECOGNIZED
FOR ARCHITECTURE
Toll facilities noted for excellence
in architectural design.
Greenville, SC - October 27, 1999 -
The American Institute of Architects
(AIA) awarded Interwest Carolina
Transportation Group the Honor Award
for Architecture for its design of
the Southern Connector Toll
Facilities in Greenville, South
Carolina.
The award is given to companies that
portray a strong commitment to
excellence in architectural design.
The Interwest Carolina
Transportation Group, L.L.C. has
been diligently working on the
structure of the Southern Connector
Toll Facilities and is proud to have
received such a prestigious award.
"We have placed a great deal of time
and effort into building the
Southern Connector and its
facilities," said Bob Aye, project
manager for the Southern Connector.
"We are proud to have been
recognized by the AIA for our
efforts."
Lescher and Mahoney of the DLR Group
are the architects for the toll
facilities. Other consultants on the
project, all of whom practice in the
Greenville area, are Britt, Peters &
Associates, McLeod Landscape
Architects, H2L and Burdette
Engineering, Inc.
Terry W. Cope, president of the AIA,
acknowledged the extraordinary
design by the Southern Connector
team. "We couldn't help but
recognize such outstanding, striking
architecture. The Interwest Team has
done a tremendous job in combining
form with function. That is what the
Honor Award is all about." |
